C-section Scar Massage

In the United States 1 in 3 women give birth via Cesarean

Your Cesarean scar can cause symptoms of:

  • urinary frequency or urgency

  • pain with lifting/carrying

  • numbness, burning

  • shelf like appearance (tummy pooch)

  • difficulty engaging your abdominals

  • contribute to orthopedic pain as low back pain, hip pain and pubic bone pain

Scar mobility can improve coordination and function of your abdominal muscles and reduce pain and pulling sensation

When to start:

Direct manipulation should begin after you have been cleared by your birth provider which typically occurs around week 6 postpartum.
