Prenatal Support at Women in Motion
Pregnancy places significant demands on your body, especially your pelvic floor, core, and musculoskeletal system. The right preparation can help you stay active during pregnancy, improve your birth experience, and reduce the risk of common postpartum complications.
At Women in Motion Physical Therapy and Wellness, our prenatal services are designed to help you feel stronger, more confident, and prepared for labor, delivery, and recovery.
Pelvic Floor Evaluation
Research published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommends pelvic floor assessment during pregnancy to help reduce the risk of birth injuries and common complications such as:
• Urinary incontinence
• Pelvic organ prolapse
• Pelvic pain
• Bowel dysfunction
Your pelvic floor muscles provide critical support for the bladder, uterus, and rectum, and play a key role in stability of the pelvis during pregnancy and labor.
During pregnancy these muscles undergo significant stress, which can contribute to common symptoms such as pelvic pain, back pain, pressure, or leaking.
A prenatal pelvic floor visit helps you:
✓ Learn how to relax and coordinate your pelvic floor during labor
✓ Reduce the risk of birth injuries and tearing
✓ Address pregnancy aches and pains so you can stay active throughout pregnancy
✓ Prepare your body for optimal postpartum recovery
Recommended timing: 14-20 weeks for your initial evaluation

Lactation support at Women in Motion
60% of women don’t breastfeed as long as they wanted to! The American Academy of Pediatrics and World Health Organization recommend breastfeeding for at least 12 months. Preparing before your baby arrives can make a significant difference in your success.
Research shows that women who receive prenatal lactation support are more likely to:
• Breastfeed for a longer duration
• Experience less pain during breastfeeding
• Reduce risk of inflammatory breast conditions such as mastitis
• Feel more confident and satisfied with their feeding journey
Meeting with an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) before delivery allows you to learn positioning, address concerns, and create a feeding plan before baby arrives.
Recommended timing: 32-35 weeks
We recommend scheduling your prenatal IBCLC lactation consult between 32-35 weeks
