Dr. Liesel Jay
PT, DPT

Post-doctorate Specialties: Pelvic Health (all genders), Orthopedics, Oncology & Dry Needling

Liesel’s professional journey began when she earned her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Miami University in Oxford, OH. In the same year, she joined the Peace Corps as a health education volunteer in the Eastern European country of Moldova. In addition to teaching across various grade levels, Liesel led initiatives focused on the long-term development of community leaders, teachers and healthcare professionals vis-a-vis sustainable health education and programs. After returning to the States, Liesel worked as a Physical Therapy Tech in an outpatient setting before pursuing her doctorate degree from the University of New England.

Up until that time, Liesel had believed her passion was in orthopedics, until one continuing education course through Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehab Institute
changed that trajectory. She has since completed her specialization in pelvic health for all genders, along with certifications in Functional Dry Needling and Dry Needling with
Neuromodulation in Pelvic Health.

After working in pelvic floor specific clinics in Colorado for over a decade and treating a diverse and dynamic patient population, she is excited to combine both her passions—pelvic floor and orthopedics—here in Virginia.

As a gymnast for 14 years, Liesel has experienced her share of pelvic floor dysfunction, pain, and orthopedic injuries. She is now a wife and mom to two beautiful children and owes so much of her approach to wellness to the professionals in her past who have helped guide and shape her.

When she isn’t giving her all to patients in the clinic, Liesel enjoys spending time with her family, hiking and staying active, reading, and baking gluten and dairy-free goodies.
